sounds great! hope to be there again. hopefully more than two straight shavers there this year.:) (not that there is anything wrong with DE shavers)
Hmmm... that's only about a two hour drive from me. Which is better than the 3+ hours away that Imperial Shave (SRD) is. Too bad that they seem to have already filled their allotted spaces for guests. ...This doesn't strike me as something that would be fun to attend in a "tailgating" fashion .
Just noticed it will be on a Saturday. That rules it out for me, anyway.
shoot! i didn't notice i had to Register. l guess i won't be there this year :(
Mcbladescar and I are 100% confirmed coming. Waiting on a few other guys to confirm as well. Really looking forward to this meet.
I never really registered for Charlie's get together and he didn't beat me with a stick for showing up! Those Michigan meets are tough places to go if they will burn you at the stake just for showing up. I,m sure they won't mind guys. Heck their letting Canadiens come! Just kidding Andrew, Have fun guys these things are great. Tc
I had brought up the same concern to Jonathan about registration being full. He said that he contacted Brad and it was fine that there would be a few extra guys.... Especially if they're straight razor guys. Brad is a straight razor guy and I think would love to have us attend because the majority of the guys there will be strict DE users.
No, No No . tintin, Crawler.
I just spoke to Brad yesterday. 4/09/2016.
I asked him about his SRP buddies.
Harrywally is coming and I wanted to touch base before he came from Canada.
Brads response was. COME. He actually said that he would open his shop for the SRP guys.
Tintin remembers we used the tables upstairs last year. I made a traveling USB microscope and need a plug in. Not many in an 1895 building.
I asked for 3-6 guys more. Non RSVP. He graciously said yes. TC can come too. No stakes, Maybe BBQ .
I would if I could, pretty busy here trying out get things ready so I can leave for Howard's the end of next month, would be good to meet. Maybe next time, would be a great ride Tc
If Money gets right , I would like to meet you at Howards. Thats the plan at least.
Put some raw honey on it, and I will drive for days.

A little far for me I was hoping it was in the UP.....;)
Unfortunately no, would if i could :)
Sure am sad to miss the road trip, and the meet up. Look forward to the follow up though, and the ensuing stories and pics. I'll be in our nations capital enjoying a must attend wedding that weekend.
Would rather be talkin razors though..
:beer1:
There is a possibility that I may be able to attend this meetup. Also, if I do, that'd mean my wife would also come along. She told me, when I started this journey, that I wasn't allowed to visit any Haberdashery without her. She likes to ogle the sharp 'n shiny things as well :tu!
My usual work week is twelve hour days on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Saturday. We recently got a part time shift up and running, in addition to our three full time shifts. The part time shift is the same hours as me, just different days of the week. If we clear it with TPTB, we are allowed to trade days.
Long story short: not guaranteed, but I may be able to go :y.
hope to see you there!
Gah. Just checked the route.. 10 hours door to door. I've driven further for less but my buddy is getting married that day. Have fun dudes.
The funds to pay for travel expenses failed to materialize. Also, sadly, my wife's grandpa passed recently, and the service fell on the 14th. It appears I am distant & detached enough that they want me to deliver the eulogy on their behalf. I barely knew him, but he and his wife had custody of my wife for a few years when she was a child. It's not much, but if my acting as a sympathetic mouthpiece on their behalf helps the family in a time of need, I'm happy to do it.
Still the matter of getting the day off, though :banghead:.
I'm a commin. With collection in tow. Leaving my place at 4am.
see you in Ingersoll at 7 :)
See you at 6:00 Colin. Just got all my gear together and came to the realization that I have more razors than I thought...... How'd this happen!!
I know how it happened... :rofl2:
Home safe and sound, left the house 17 hours ago. Thats a long day.
Brad thank you for hosting the event, it was great. I very much liked the store and your work shop. Space doesnt seem to be a issue.
It was a great day at Maggards
Great full to pick up some samples and much needed horn blanks. Thanks Brad
Mike
yes! fun day and great meeting you SR shavers from the great white north! (plus i won a neat DE in the door prize drawing!) Thanks Brad!
Vern
No photos of the meet?
Afterwards I thought, man I should have taken more pics.
Here's one.

Nate Zowada on the left, with the beard, was the only guy there with a strop, so I had him strop 2 of my blades I honed. The guy back left was a Barbering student who wanted to learn to hone with his brand new Norton 220/1000 and 4000/8000 stones. I think he picked up a lot from Jonathan (Uktrasoundguy.) He's the big guy sitting down. The other big guy back right, use to work for Heart steel making razors, and is now making his own customs. Can't remember the name. We all had a fantastic conversation about razors and finishing hones.
Great picture. The guy standing is JD. He used to work for Hart razors. Now his is with "Through the Fire." I need to google that.
Thanks Brad for you shop, the Hospitality and am all around good time.
I really enjoyed the meet. New and Old alike all are true gemtlemen. Wow 300 plus razors between just you men from Canada.
Way to bring it strong. While just a pleasure to sit and pick everyones brains.
So remember how I was nervous about getting back into Canada with all those blades..... The Canadian border guard shaves with a shavette and had 2 of his Grandfathers straights. Ha! The three of us encouraged him to come here to SRP and learn about them, and also learn to use them. He was very interested. So funny.
Slowly, but surely, we will expand our numbers! And should some sort of cataclysm befall the earth, turning society back to around the industrial revolution, we will have job security as barbers! Hair cuts weren't fancy back in the day; but a skilled hand with a straight brought you a long way!
Mwuahahahaha!!!:medvl:

Pay me no mind. Work last night at work was supposed to be the first relatively easy day I've had in weeks, but I got bumped to the roughest job in the plant. I'm feelin a bit wacky as a result lol.
